The ticker is actually a fun thing that keeps updating constantly, it gives users a feel that something is happening all the time. If gives one a feel of constant movement and many people like that. Not all though, some people might find that irritating but that's the way things are.
How to hide, stop, remove or disable the Facebook Ticker and Sidebar
1. login to Facebook
2. Click on the arrow symbol on the bottom right-hand corner of the ticker which says 'Hide Sidebar'
3. You're done
How to reactivate, enable bring back the Facebook Ticker
1. Login to Facebook
2. Click on the chat icon and the ticker is back
