How to follow Good Password Hygiene

There is enough news these days of Social Networking sites getting hacked. Once that happens you the end user stand to loos your account and maybe even your friends get spammed. Once an account is hacked you could also loose all your information and get your lists of friends etc deleted. This seems to be a problem generally on the internet and there seems to be only one way to fight all of this. Maintaining good password hygiene -- on social sites and else where on the internet. There is no company that is not susceptible to being hacked and till such time that permanent solutions are not found. The responsibility of keeping you account safe is left to you. So here are a few steps you need to follow to ensure good password management for your account, and keep your account secure.

How ot keep your passwords secureHow to set your passwords and keep them secure
1. Your passwords should be at least 10 characters long
2. Should contain a mix of characters -- letters, symbols (^%#), upper case, lower case and numbers
3. Don't use the same password for multiple sites
4. Change your password every six months

What is a password and why is it important
1. When you create a login ID on any site, you also need a password.
2. Passwords when being created and stored are always shown in asterisk -(******).
3. It is what gets you into your favorite sites like Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
4. It should not be shared with anyone.
5. Should be stored in a secure place. You can use a number of password saving apps online or better still -- find a way to manage all your passwords locally and offline.

Disable Java on your browser for better password protection
1. Most account seem to be compromised through the Java loophole.
2. The U.S Department of Homeland Advisory also has this to say on disabling Java.

This comes soon after it was reported that popular file storage site megaupload.com was taken down by the US government and it's top bosses have been arrested. The Justice Department said in a statement said that Kim Dotcom, 37, and three other employees were arrested on  Thursday in New Zealand at the request of U.S. officials. Facebook hack causes users to panic and put up notes on their profiles

The news that Facebook has been hacked and pornographic images showing up on your profile have caused some users to panic and start spreading the word. The news of the hack is that after the compromise your account could get hacked and porn images will show up and messages that could potentially embarrass you. Facebook has acknowledged the problem on Monday and says that the way this happened was that users were somehow tricked into copying and pasting malicious code into their browser bars. Once this was done hackers could gain easy access to their victim's profiles and paste whatever they want. Facebook have said that the accounts from where these hacks have been originating have been shut done. There have been many threats in the past especially when Anonymous threatened to shutdown the service because of the way Facebook handles privacy.

When I logged-in to Facebook today this is what i saw posted on my friends news feed. So if you see the same think posted on your friends profiles you know why it's there and where it has been originating from.

Hackers are busy on Facebook!!! They post some insulting messages and pornographic videos and pictures on the wall of your friends with your regards, without you knowing about it. You cannot see it, it does not come up in your news feed. If you receive one of those messages in my name, it isn't from me. Put this on your wall and warn your friends. Share the news

JustinBieberVEVO channel has no videos - Hacked?

Was browsing through the world wide trending topics and noticed this one on Twitter 'JustinBieberVEVO'. Which is Justin Bieber's official channel on YouTube. Apparently when you click on the channel you get this message. '"Justin Bieber - ..." This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by iLCreation.' What has transpired has not become too clear but we can summarize that there has been a copyright claim by iLcreation and YouTube has decided tot ake down all his videos. Belibers will surely be disappointed as there are no official Justin Bieber videos to watch. Will update more and as more information flows in as to why this has happened. There are now two topics trending on Twitter related to what has happened #JustinBieberVEVO and #WeWantJustinBieberVEVOBack. The fans on Twitter are tweeting that his channel has actually been hacked because if you Google 'iL creation' all you get is a catering company. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
